I880 Corridor Improvement Project, Road Closure on 5th Ave and Embarcadero

5th Avenue Seismic Retrofit Project

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be conducting a road closure of 5th Avenue between Embarcadero and 7th Street/East 8th Street in Oakland on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Please use detour below.

EASTBOUND 5TH AVENUE TRAFFIC

Northbound I-880 traffic is advised to use the Oak Street off-ramp, instead of the Embarcadero off-ramp. Drivers would then turn right onto Oak Street, take another right at 7th Street and continue on to 5th Avenue.

Traffic on Embarcadero should head north past 5th Avenue to Oak Street. Traffic should turn right on Oak Street and right again on 7th Street to reach 5th Avenue.

WESTBOUND 5TH AVENUE TRAFFIC

Traffic on 7th/E. 8th Street should head north on 7th Street and turn right on Fallon Street. After one block, traffic should turn left on 8th Street, go two blocks, and then turn left on Madison Street. Take Madison Street under I-880 to 2nd Street. Turn left on 2nd Street, go one block, and take a right on Oak Street to reach Embarcadero.
